Rona Kestina is a young girl under involuntary service to the Dark Lord RedEye. She is the last living ancestor of the mage Kestina. She debuted in the non-canonical Kichikuou Rance.
Rona's ancestor was an incredible researcher and mage known only to history as Kestina. Over 2000 years ago he created the parasitic gem known as RedEye, ostensibly to aid humanity against the Monster Realm. Despite subsisting as an inorganic being, RedEye is powerful enough to be a Magic Lv3 user. However, the gem was stolen by Demon King Nighcisa and turned into a Dark Lord.
To ensure RedEye's allegiance to him, Kestina originally enchanted the immortal gem with a spell: RedEye would only remain alive so long as a member of Kestina's bloodline remained alive. Done in the hopes of inspiring fealty, after his transformation to a Dark Lord RedEye realized Kestina's descendants need not be comfortable, just living. The gem began keeping Kestina's offspring as slaves and bred them for countless generations up to the present. RedEye is not concerned with their happiness or safety (preferring they have neither), so long as they remain alive.
Rona is currently the last living member of the Kestina line, her life now the only link keeping RedEye alive. It is unknown how she came to be Kestina's last living heir (since more members would give more security to RedEye) but it is possible that RedEye's continued hatred for Kestina over the years has overridden his rational judgment - in Kichikuou Rance RedEye excitedly remarks that as soon as Rona gives birth to a child he plans to violently kill her.
Rona's life consists of slavery and servitude. She is responsible for cleaning the Dark Lord's metallic body and other menial tasks around his lair. She is also constantly tormented by RedEye for his own amusement, using weak magic attacks against her for fun. RedEye was responsible for her upbringing and education, choosing to teach her almost nothing. She has no skills beyond a grasp of the language, moderate cleaning abilities, and obedience. She's spent her whole life malnourished and weak, wears tattered clothes, and spends each day in fear of her next torture
When she was old enough to conceive a child, RedEye abducted a random man and forced him to rape Rona until he impregnated her. The man succeeded and was shortly thereafter killed by the Dark Lord. Rona is not happy to be carrying a child under such circumstances, especially knowing her child will be linked to RedEye and subject to the same torments she was. However, Rona has been shown to exhibit concern for her unborn offspring. When threatening to kill herself, RedEye once launched a magic attack at her stomach that would have killed her baby; Rona turns her stomach away and takes the blast herself on her back. RedEye ridicules Rona that such a display shows worry for the child and that she is not yet willing to die. At present, RedEye eagerly awaits Rona's birthing to continue his horrific cycle.
