This page shows the layout of the various "dungeon" areas within Rance 01.

General Notes[]

  • All maps wrap around, so if there's something that seems inaccessible from the entrance, you're meant to go all the way down the map while working your way to the column you need to be in to get the card you want.
    • Example: In the Heroes' Cemetery, to get to Treasure ??2 (space A-01), you need to work your way down to the trap at A-16 and then step forward onto A-01.
  • Usually when there are multiple levels and you go up stairs or down, you will come back to the same space you left when you return to the original level.
  • Commonly the exit from a dungeon is also the entrance (accounting for the wrap around). There are exceptions: for example Leazas Outskirts has multiple exits, and none of them are the entrance.
  • Random cards (shown as 'R') will always be empty space, traps, monsters, or helpers (treasure/heals/buffs). They are re-chosen every time you leave and enter a map. They don't reset when you wrap around the map, which is useful if a particularly great combination of cards happens to come up, like a great buff followed by valuable monsters. You can wrap around the map over and over again hitting them each time.
  • Some cards, like exit and event cards, are always face up. Most other cards are randomly face up or face down, whether they are random cards or not. Card facing can change every time you wrap around the map.
  • A few notes on treasure cards:
    • Treasure cards are labeled A, B, C, D and ??. A treasure card without one of these labels is a Mimic.
    • Most of the time, the lettered treasure cards in a specific map are equivalent and offer the same set of treasures, chosen at random. If a treasure is given "once," it will be given once per map, not per card. There is at least one exception - the card listed as "D1" on the Leazas Outskirts map, which has the third Tension Shelf if not already owned, but is labeled "D" like all other treasure cards in the map.
    • Treasure maps with the same letter on different maps are not the same and may give out very different treasures. The letter is a rough guide to the value of treasure given out, not the specific random selection list.
    • All ?? treasure cards give unique treasure. If a map contains several of them, they each have different treasures.
    • "once" next to a treasure means that this treasure can be obtained from this card one time, but not necessarily the first time. Typically the RNG is set to make unique treasures more likely, but it can take many tries. If the treasure is used up or thrown away, it will not be available again from this treasure card.
    • "first time" means that this treasure will be given out the first time this card is visited, and never again.
    • "if not owned" means that this treasure will be given only if it is not already owned (in the closet or inventory). If the treasure has been used or thrown away, it can be reacquired.

Note that this map is 64 rows long, with the bulk of it R spaces. You are not allowed to use the "Hurry Back to Town" feature on this map, so the only way out is to hit the Exit card or die. Even if you start out bright and early, you will need High Potion and Dummies or Nurse to cure the status effects caused by High Potion. You may also want Sururin-Kin, Asteroid Blaster, Greenderwear, etc. to deal with the many traps, and a good selection of weapons and shields to deal with the Uruncels.

Monsters:

  • UH: Urunsel Heaven

Traps:
