Merci Archa is a humble girl from an average town in Helman. She's hard-working, resourceful, and smart. She's also quite a pretty young lady, since she was awarded with beauty prices in the past, and Anasel Caspora considers her to be her rival as a result, which Merci seems entirely unaware of.
While she is quite timid and submissive, she has a surprisingly strong will that allows her to continue to stand through numerous hardships. It is because of this inner strength that Patton Misnarge came to trust her as an invaluable part of his revolution.

Kichikuou Rance[]

In Kichikuou Rance, Merci is from a poor family in the town of Golak. Her town was attacked several times by Rance's gang of thieves. Rance eventually found a noble girl called Anasel and took her virginity. Angered but ever-enterprising, Anasel used this opportunity to get revenge on her rival for defeating her in a beauty pageant, and informed Rance of Merci's existence, immediately gaining his interest.
Rance's group assaulted Golak the following week and succeeding in capturing Merci, but were ambushed by a large group of volutnteer soldiers led by Ruberan Tser soon after, and were soundly defeated, allowing Merci to escape unharmed.
During the Helman phase, if the player levys in the conquered Golak, Rance will find Merci and take her back to his castle as a part of his harem, dooming her to be his sex slave. If the player does not raid Golak, Merci lives out the rest of her days happily and without incident.

Rance IX[]
Her role in the canonical timeline changes wildly. Merci's character was identical to her Kichikuou timeline until the year LP0005, where her town is attacked by thieves and she's almost captured by them to be sold as a sex slave. However, Patton's group gets in time and defeat the bandits, saving Merci and the town of Golak in the process. He also reveals his identity as the Prince of Helman and that his group is preparing to start a revolution to take down Stessel's regime.
In Rance IX, Merci appears as a member of the revolutionary army and the leader of the supportive unit. She's mostly in charge of resource managament, supplying goods and also logistic support. She deeply trusts in Patton and looks up to him. When Rance arrives to Helman in Patton's assistance, she's introduced to him immediately and she starts working for him as well. Rance also takes the advantage to take her virginity though.

- She was teased with being the third missing apostle of Dark Lord Berksham, since it's known that her name was Merci and there were rumors that she was in Helman, which apparently turned out to be false.
