Note: most characters must stay in your party until the end of the game to get their chara clears. There are exceptions, but they would be mentioned specifically.
Clearing a character will give them a bonus in new games:
+10HP, +5 attack, +10 accuracy, +5 evasion, +20% income, +20K base prostitution income and +2 prostitution popularity
Note that some characters have slightly different bonuses, such as your starting 3 girls, who get more accuracy but less in other stats
<3 with Kanbara Yuuko to improve your H-Skill (This is the loyality recovery bonus your female subordinates get, when you h with them...). First time gives you +10 bonus, the subsequent ones +5.
Loyalty Type: Lust Range: Long Skill: Mercy (An attack that won't kill. Enemies HP will stay at 1.)
Chara Clear:
In the war with PM there will be one elite-yakuza (black sunglass & suit). Attack him with Yoko and conversation will start. It's her husband. At the beginning of the next turn Yoko will meet him.
Now talk to her. She will introduce her husband, Aoba Ichirou (青葉 一郎), to you and he will join you.
Clear the game with both of them (don't fire anyone or let them die).
Other Notes:
She is taken by Ippatsu if Ichihashi Ran is killed or captured during the fight with Wakame.
Loyalty Type changes to Duty after recruiting Ichirou.
She will commit suicide if Ichirou dies after recruting him.
Can be recruited in Midorigaoka (your homebase), the first six weeks after the game starts.
Loyalty Type: Duty Range: Medium Skill: Support Hit (Hit +10 for all allies. Does not attack, preemptively activate.)
Chara Clear:
Recruit Tsukigase Nene and talk to her twice. (Note: you must capture Nene before or immediately after capturing Komiya Youko.)
Put them in the same location. After 5 events talk to Nene.
Other Notes:
Talk to him twice & he will be able to reduce the salary of your subordinates (... but not his own). This ability is enchanced after obtaining ひみつ日記 "Secret Diary" item.
He provides you with information at the beginning of each turn or if you ask him.
Since 1935 May if your funds are less then 1000, at the start of the turn he will provide you once with 5000万 and once with 4750万.
Clear Satsu`s wish route. Only accessible after clearing the Ehavilla route (which is only accessible after clearing the True route with Yume as a subordinate).
Note that clearing Satsu's route will make the Free for all mode accessible
When starting a new game you'll be given the choice of getting her route.
Finish the game married to Satsu with her still in your roster

ハニージッポ "Hanny Zippo" item doesn't work on her.
Talk to her twice to receive イデのネックレス "Ide Necklace" item. (Unconfirmed: Doesn't this have to be on her route, after her HCG?)
You may nominate her as a new mayor, but she seems to always loose the elections (which leads to game over).
In the subsequent playthroughs, when the option to "Make a change" is chosen, continue deploying her in battle together with Akuji and station them in the same areas. After several events she will fall in love with Akuji. Then, after Eden suppression, Ippatsu will attack you.
When Ippatsu attacks, she will leave.

After an unsuccessful attempt to control Genius Hospital in Sakai 「天才病院（制圧）」, talk to Yuuko or Morita Ai once (twice if you haven't talked to her before). After that, see 看護婦さんの夜遊 "Nurse's nightlife" event in Funai. Then - 天才病院 （深夜の侵入） "Genius hospital (Late night tresspass)" event. Hospital will be controlled and you'll get 5000万 yen.
She will take care of Nozomi if you decide to protect the girl.
After you visit her at the City Council once, the subsidy is increased (400万 -> 1000万).
Her skill can be exploited against drunks in Umeda underground city to grind her stats into a first class character.
Capture & give her 10 animals for her private zoo to get 翡翠の魚 "Jade Fish" item.
Capture & give her 30 animals for her private zoo to get 専属看護婦さん "Exclusive Nurse" item.

Semi-uniques[]
Semi-uniques all have slightly better stats than the generics. They are all quite useful for territory management.
魔法少女 Magical girl
Any of the generic girls can be given the item "Moss" to transform them into the magical girl. Note that their stats will reset, so there's no point in training them before the transformation.
You may want to consider a glasses girl as the base for the Mental concentration skill
古鷹 むい Furutaka Mui (unconfirmed)[]
She will become a subordinate after doing the "Youth organization member scout" event at Midorigaoka. (Patch 1.05)
Not sure if they can't be recruited before patch 1.05, or if there is a random (low) chance to recruit them when doing the event.
Youth organization member scout" event only appears in Midorigaoka when you have less than 10 subordinates
Mui has 13 attack and 10 evade along with a loyalty type of Greed instead of the generic 3 attack and 0 evade and Lust
If you talk to Mui (might be the same for generic Youth Volunteer Girls?), then she will recruit her friend, who is a generic Youth Volunteer Girl but with slightly enhanced stats. Unconfirmed comment that this might not happen after Nago Cult is defeated
熊手 まんまる Kumate Manmaru[]
She becomes a subordinate after doing the first "Scout a glasses girl" event at Sakai (before marrying Minka).
熊手 さんかく Kumate Sankaku[]
She becomes a subordinate after doing the second "Scout a glasses girl" event at Sakai (before marrying Minka).
Both of the Kumate sisters have 250 base income and 20 pay, instead of the 150 income and 100 pay of generic glasses girls. They can help a lot if you're feeling overstretched on week 3.
川口 ミリー Yamaguchi Mirii[]
She joins you after doing the "Lover mutability" event in Ikoma (after Ikoma belongs to Youth Volunteer Group).
Mirii has 100 hit instead of the generic 50
甲子園 熱子 Koushien Nekko[]
A special character of the "Housewife" type. She will join you after doing "Housewife who burns to grapple" event at Koushien.
Nekko has 16 attack, 80 hit and 10 evade and 50 pay instead of the generic 6, 60, 0, 100. Like the generic housewives, she has High law, making her a good addition if you are having trouble keeping peace
After Eden suppression defeat Ippatsu without defeating Ran.
Other Notes:
If you defeat her, you will loose Aoba Youko (you can still keep her as a prostitute though) and won't be able to recruit Dr. Suteki and Yamazawa Asami.
If you defeat Wakame after it's taken over by Dr. Suteki, Ran will leave with Ippatsu.
You'll get うさ仮面うさ "Gloomy Mask" item at the start of the turn after talking to her.
Don't station her in Senri (the Wakame HQ) or she will be killed by former disgruntled members.
CG:
When not defeated for 2 months after attacking Wakame.

Chara Clear:
Finish the game with her and Kaga Tarou in your team.

If you place her in Kofun she will disappear, but can be rescued by searching the tomb there (or you can get ロケットエンジン "Rocket Engine" item).
However if you rescue her once every 10 weeks, the spirit of King Binonon will control her, and she will get a power boost. Loyalty Type changes to Duty. After you talked to him once, Hanny will join your team each time you call him.
After an unsuccessful attempt to control Genius Hospital in Sakai 「天才病院（制圧）」, talk to Ai or Kanbara Yuuko once. After that, see 看護婦さんの夜遊 "Nurse's nightlife" event in Funai. Then - 天才病院 （深夜の侵入） "Genius hospital (Late night tresspass)" event. Hospital will be controlled and you'll get 5000万 yen.

After that, talk to Yuuko thrice and Akuji will be mesmerized by Nozomi. For 5 times, no matter who you call at the subordinate phase, Akuji will visit Nozomi.

Third time you try to talk to someone after Akuji is mesmerized by Nozomi.

Transforming into Shaa counts as death (for example, if Aoba Ichirou is infected, Aoba Youko will commit suicide). An event will not occur anymore if no one is stationed in the chosen area.

Since Kimon can be recruited early, this can be very effective early game
With 2 Atk and 90 Eva, he is a very high utility subordinate. Consider using him when trying to wait out Motoko in Midorigaoka, when you can't send a Mercy to secure a capture

You can't let her get exorcised before completing this step. So it's impossible to do this on Satsu route, or when Kujou Sourin is a subordinate (unconfirmed)
Complete the event to send her directly to the brothel
